Making furniture for his own needs using salvaged native timbers from his hills property some twenty years ago, instead of burning it, seemed to be the natural thing to do, and led to producing pieces for friends, and then to creating a limited number of pieces for the fine woodcraft market, in particular for the Fine Woodcraft Gallery in Pemberton up until mid 2007. Some of this work has found its way to buyers in the UK, Dubai and the eastern states.

Since the early 2000s, pieces have been made as private commissions, this now being the preferred method, enabling the consignee to nominate their specific requirements within certain stylistic options. With his artistic approach, buyers are guaranteed an individual and unique piece, each piece being strictly a one-off design. With sustainability a principle of his work practice (all timber is salvaged as either windfalls, mining detritus etc and air drying), only native timbers (sheoak, jarrah, marri, westralian blackbutt etc) are used in solid construction techniques, sometimes combined with metals, colored finshes, rarer Westralian Timbers and low toxicity polishes.
